Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both lawyers. At the age five she moved to Oxfordshire to attend The Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma knew she would like to be an actor and for many years she was a student at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught performing and singing. As part of a school production and a Stagecoach production, Emma was her role as lead actress at 10 and performed. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaption to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint following auditions for 8 times. They were chosen to play the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. The film set records on the opening weekend and numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Reviewers were awed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British newspaper, was awed by her for her outstanding performance. Later Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her performance in the film winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress Young in a Feature Film.
